Numerical Study of Local Scour around Tripod Foundation in Random Waves

In this study, the local scour around tripods in random waves is numerically investigated. The seabed-tripod-fluid numerical model with an RNG k−ε turbulence built and validated. Following that, characteristics flow velocity distribution are analyzed using present model. Finally, a revised stochastic proposed to predict equilibrium depth, Seq, waves. results indicate that capable of depicting process capturing field high accuracy. Due blockage effects main column structural elements, there enhanced acceleration underneath lower diagonal braces, which increases intensity seabed shear stress, causing more particles be mobilized transported, resulting severe at site. shows best agreement experimental when n = 20, but data still needed verify adaptation for larger Keulegan–Carpenter (KC) number conditions (KCrms,a > 4).
